V4.51 Firmware

We hereby announce the release of the V4.51 firmware for the Future Impact V4 and V4 VIP.

Released just a few weeks ago, the V4.5 firmware was probably the most important upgrade in the Future Impact’s ten-year history, with the FM synth engine, zero-latency tracking and the Setlist being the most significant new features. You may be wondering why we are releasing a firmware update so soon after the previous one; there are several reasons for this:

As is the case in all major firmware upgrades of such complexity, some minor bugs can go undetected in the beta testing phase. Those that were discovered after the V4.5 release have now been fixed.
Due to lack of available processor memory in V4.5, it was regrettably not possible to implement some important MIDI functions in FM mode, despite the fact that users rightly expected these should work across both synth engines. Thankfully, in the intervening time, an AI-assisted analysis of the firmware has enabled further memory optimization, with the result that the most important MIDI functions were able to be implemented.
Via user feedback we learned that you wanted a much quicker and easier way to switch between VA and FM modes; we heard you and have now implemented that.

We have also updated the Editor: the pedal firmware update process has been improved such that it will guide you through each step with clear prompts and will allow you to back up your sounds, setlists and Global Menu settings.

New customers’ devices will be delivered with the V4.51 firmware installed. Current V4 owners running V4.12 or V4.5 firmware are encouraged to install the free upgrade. We hope you enjoy the new firmware!

Furthermore, in order to streamline the flow of information about the Future Impact and other Panda-Audio products, the webpage www.pandamidi.com will be shut down: from May 10th, all information will be available exclusively at www.panda-audio.com.

MAJOR UPDATE

What's New in V4.5

The latest firmware update brings major new capabilities to Future Impact V4 and Future Impact VIP.

FM Sound Engine — 99 Yamaha DX7-compatible FM programs have been added to the existing 99 VA (Virtual Analogue) sounds.
Setlists — You can program any combination of VA and FM programs into an ordered performance list — no computer required. On stage, you can step through them one by one with a footswitch.
Zero Latency Pitch Tracking Priority Parameter — A new third option, Zero Latency, joins the existing Speed and Accuracy modes. It can be applied to most VA and FM programs for instant response.
Portamento — Now available in Bass/Guitar mode, in addition to the existing MIDI mode.
Copy and Swap VA Programs — Reorder programs or copy a single program to multiple slots to create variations of it. This can now be done directly on the Future Impact, without the Editor.
Automatic Input Mode Switching — The Future Impact now detects which input (audio or MIDI) you are using from the first note and automatically reboots into the correct input mode (BASS/SPLIT/GTR or MIDI).
Separate MIDI Channels — You can assign separate MIDI channels for Internal mode (keyboard or controller input) and External mode (VA programs driving an external synthesizer).
Restore Factory Defaults — Restore VA or FM programs to their original factory state at any time, without the Editor.

Future Impact V4.5 Is ready!

The greatest development in the long history of the Future Impact, software V4.5 for the FI V4 and FI V4 VIP models is ready!

The three greatest news: 99 Yamaha DX7 compatible new FM sounds, Setlist Mode and ZERO Latency Mode are working wonderfully. Setlists can be programmed very easily on board, without a computer. FM sounds are combined with the VCF section and the Effect section of the FI (Chorus, Delay, Overdrive, EQ). New VIP devices that will be delivered with V4.5 will have new footswitches. On request from our customers, we eliminate the risk of accidentally pressing the encoder button together with the ON/OFF switch by using 4.5 millimeters higher footswitches with improved quality and lighter switching action.

Both the FI software and the Editor software are ready, we just need another 8-10 days for deep beta testing and documentation. The two greatest news: 99 Yamaha DX7 compatible new FM sounds and Setlist Mode are working wonderfully. Setlists can be programmed very easily on board, without a computer.
